Franchising plays important role in matured economy. One study of PricewaterhouseCoopers founds that “franchising sector generates one-out-of-every-seven jobs in the U.S. and contributes more than $1.5 trillion to the economy each year”. In China, the burgeoning middle class, estimated as 600 million consumers by 2015, has lured thousands of international (such as KFC, Subway, haagendazs, Dia) and local players (Yonghe, Daphne, Little Sheep) in the franchise business. What is the outlook of current industry in China? Who are playing active roles? What are those main challenges for business owners, and their partners such as banks, business consultants, and lawyers? What are the particularity of Chinese consumers behavior? Professor Ilan Alon will illustrate those points by figures and case study. |

Visiting scholar at Harvard Kennedy School
Dr. Alon has published 7 books ’s on Global Franchising, include: Franchising Globally: Innovation, Learning and Imitation (Palgrave, 2010) , Service Franchising: A Global Perspective (Springer, 2005).Dr. Alon consulted USAID on franchising development in emerging markets. In Croatia, he was responsible for developing the field of franchising through education to bankers, business consultants, and lawyers and support for budding home-grown franchisors. |
